Zoomarine actively participates in the conservation of ocean life, its species and habitats, implementing its commitment through the ‘Porto d’Abrigo’ Marine Species Rehabilitation Centre, conservation projects, environmental education and scientific researches. Together We Protect is our motto.

Porto d’Abrigo | In 2002, Zoomarine created Porto d’Abrigo, the first Marine Species Rehabilitation Centre in Portugal, filling a crucial gap in the country. Since then, in partnership with the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF), a multidisciplinary team has been dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating marine animals. This pioneering project reflects Zoomarine’s commitment to conserving marine life and returning it to its natural habitat.

Recognising the meritorious work of many organisations and research institutions in the development and implementation of tangible and on-site protection measures for species and habitats, Zoomarine collaborates with and supports the activity of some of them, thus contributing to the effectiveness and continuity of these projects.
