The Marine Megafauna Foundation actively seeks to “(...) save threatened marine life through pioneering research, education and sustainable conservation solutions. The goal is a world where marine life and humans thrive together”.
Unsustainable fishing, ineffective waste management and climate change have had a major impact on marine populations. This organisation works to protect megafauna, including species such as manta rays, sharks, sea turtles, etc., animals that play a key role in protecting the oceans.
The Marine Megafauna Foundation develops projects in Mozambique, Florida and Indonesia, conducting pioneering research on marine megafauna. The data collected is used to influence the adoption of effective, long-term conservation strategies.
Zoomarine has joined forces with this organisation in 2014 with the aim of raising funds (through donation boxes, educational programmes and/or merchandising dedicated to this purpose) for the development of educational conservation programmes in Mozambique.
