This organisation works in the conservation of aquatic mammals in Latin America, such as whales, dolphins, otters, seals and manatees, protecting endangered species and their habitats
Involved in a number of conservation projects in Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Venezuela and Peru, it works in cooperation with local and international partners, promoting the exchange of knowledge and resources.
Working under the motto “People are the problem – people are the solution”, Yaqu Pacha understands that interventions to protect nature are only successful if the local population is involved in the process.
Zoomarine has joined forces with this organisation by contributing financially to the conservation project for the Lahille’s Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus gephyreus), a highly endangered subspecies with only about 600 animals remaining in the wild.
The park also collaborates on an ongoing basis by sending funds and specialised resources (veterinarians, biologists and other experts) for emergency situations, such as it was the mass mortality crisis of cetaceans in the Amazon River or the rehabilitation of Francisca – a Lahile dolphin in rehabilitation.
