On 11 October, the Species Survival Commission (SSC) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) issued a statement recognising and proudly applauding the significant contributions of botanical gardens, aquariums and zoos to their critical mission of species conservation.
These places play an important role in preserving biodiversity and raising public awareness about nature conservation. The statement highlights the importance of these institutions in protecting species and promoting environmental education.
